Honey, which is among the important production and export products of Turkey, is exported to 46 countries, mainly the USA, Germany and Israel, during the first 6 months of the year.

According to the information compiled from the data of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB), 6-month honey export of Turkey, which has a suitable climate for beekeeping, was recorded as 5 thousand 119 tons. A revenue of 16 million 804 thousand 88 dollars was obtained from this export.

During the said period, Turkish honey was sold to 46 countries, mainly the USA, Germany and Israel.

In the January-June period, 7 million 220 thousand 617 dollars of honey was exported to the USA, 2 million 347 thousand 366 dollars to Germany and 1 million 923 thousand 859 dollars to Israel.

Unlike the same period last year, honey was sold to Saudi Arabia, Croatia, Venezuela, Sweden, Uzbekistan and Cameroon during this period.

Ahmet Hamdi Gürdoğan, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of DKİB, told that they have high expectations from honey exports.

Noting that honey production is a sector that provides a significant foreign exchange inflow to the country, Gürdoğan stated that they believe they can export Turkish honey to more countries.

Gürdoğan stated that the weather will be very hot in some regions and heavy rains in some regions will negatively affect the honey harvest.

“This situation will inevitably have a negative impact on our export performance in the coming period. Besides, the fact that the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, which we always insist on, prevents the export of unbranded and unpackaged products by conducting a very strict inspection, will have a positive effect on the image of Turkish goods and increase the quality awareness of Turkish honey. We believe that we can increase our product diversity, organic products, geographically marked products and branded product exports, especially in European countries, Japan and the USA market.”
