According to the information compiled from the data of Turkish Electricity Transmission AŞ (TEİAŞ), Turkey’s installed power of electricity has risen to the level of 98,800 megawatts.
Clean energy sources, which have an important place in Turkey’s electricity generation portfolio to combat climate change and reduce the current account deficit, accounted for 51,900 megawatts of this capacity.
A new threshold has been crossed in this field, with the wind energy installed power having the highest capacity after hydroelectricity among Turkey’s clean energy installed power, reaching 10 thousand 10 megawatts.
16.8 billion kilowatt-hours of the 187.3 billion kilowatt-hours electricity produced in Turkey in the January-July period this year was obtained from wind energy.
In this period, the share of wind energy in total electricity generation was recorded as 9 percent.
While the share of wind energy in Turkey’s total electricity installed power reached 10 percent, wind energy constituted 19.3 percent of the total renewable energy installed power.

The highest wind energy capacity on a provincial basis was in İzmir with approximately 1700 megawatts, followed by Balıkesir with 1300 megawatts, Çanakkale with approximately 850 megawatts, Manisa with 750 megawatts and Istanbul with 420 megawatts.
Hatay and Kırklareli with 415 megawatts each, Aydın 400 megawatts, Afyonkarahisar 325 megawatts, Kayseri 272 megawatts, Osmaniye 260 and Konya 242 megawatts, Muğla 220 megawatts, Bursa 205 megawatts and Mersin with approximately 200 megawatts were among the 15 cities with the highest installed wind power. .
Borusan EnBw ranks first in wind energy with 660 megawatts.
Demirer Energy ranks second with 613.7 megawatts, Guris Energy is third with 588.25 megawatts, and Polat Energy is fourth with 559 megawatts.
After the decision to invest in wind energy, it takes about 5 years to produce electricity. Turbines account for 80% of the cost of wind energy investments.
Before the projects, power measurements are carried out for at least 2 years in order to determine the potential of the place where the turbine will be installed. After the measurements, it is necessary to allocate capacity to the wind energy investor, to obtain the necessary permits from approximately 30 different institutions for each turbine, and to proceed to the projecting phase after the engineering studies.
The main parts of the wind turbines, which consist of 8 thousand parts in total, are the tower, blade, generator, nacelle internal parts, and interior parts of the tower.
Most of these parts are produced in Turkey. Turkey’s wind energy industry stands out as one of the sectors that provides the most domesticity with 65% of energy resources.
Wings, towers and nacelles produced in the factories are transported by trucks and assembled at the power plant site. The tower, which is one of the main parts of the wind turbine, has a length of 120 meters and a blade length of 80 meters. Thus, the total length of the turbines reaches 200 meters.
The capacities of wind turbines vary according to the characteristics of the project and site. In particular, the production of turbines is carried out on a project basis. There are turbines with a capacity of about 6 megawatts on the market. A turbine of this capacity can produce enough electricity to meet the needs of approximately 6 thousand households. The cost of such a turbine reaches 3 million euros.
Italian energy company Eni has announced that it has signed an agreement to purchase Spanish wind and solar projects with a total capacity of 1200 MW from Madrid-based European private equity manager Azora Capital. The portfolio acquired by Eni includes three onshore wind farms in operation, three under construction It includes a wind farm and five solar projects in further development.
