Murat Kurum, Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, who made investigations in the
earthquake area, said, ‘It will restrict the height of floors”. He stated that they are carrying out new zoning
plan studies that will limit the settlement areas.
Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change stated that after the earthquakes in
Kahramanmaraş, they conducted aerial and land surveys in Gaziantep, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş and Adıyaman in
order to determine safe zones for new settlements.
Minister Kurum, who attended the coordination meeting in the center of Malatya, made a joint press statement with Vahit Kirişci, then Minister of Agriculture and Forestry.
Stating that they have made their determinations regarding the new settlement areas, Minister Institution stated that they have started geological studies by consulting with relevant units for new settlements in Hatay, Kahramanmaraş and Adıyaman, which he visited.In addition, it was announced that the most suitable grounds for
permanent residences were determined with micro-zoning and ground survey studies in the earthquake zone.
It was stated by the Minister that work has been started for permanent residences as well as temporary accommodation areas.
In the provincial coordination meetings organized by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change; It was noted that the opinions of provincial administrators, municipalities, deputies, representatives
of non-governmental organizations and academicians were taken for the new settlement areas, and the most
suitable soils were determined with micro-zoning and ground survey studies in order to minimize the damage
of the earthquake.The area is determined according to the distance to the fault line and to the ground with the most accurate technique. After these determinations, ground survey studies were also started in the
determined places. Samples determined from the areas within the scope of the studies will be examined to
determine whether the ground is suitable for settlement, he said.
