TURKEY READY FOR THE BLACK FRIDAY

As we know it is very sensational and important in America, but ‘Black Friday’ is now also very popular in Turkey. Especially the online shopping sites launched their campaigns and discounts a couple of days before ‘Friday’ and people get very excited and get ready for it.

It is starting the morning following the Thanksgiving day which will be this year 24th November.  This is also ‘Teacher’s Day’ in Turkey so brands make it double! The ‘Black Friday’ can renew the e-commerce sale record of Turkey. The concept of “Black Friday”, which was first used in a local newspaper in 1961, began to be used as a permanent name given to the special day in which shopping madness was experienced. In many countries, shops opening in the early hours with unusual discounts lead to buy many technology and shopping enthusiasts. Shopping in Turkey is expressed as a 622% increase compared to a normal day.

The most preferred products are clothes, electronic products and books. Due to the Black Friday, which is on the same day as Teachers’ Day on Friday (November 24th), major discounts will be made at many stores nation wide. Sony was among the earliest actors for discounts. Apart from it, which has made up to 30% discounts in many products, it has been shared that there will be a 25% discount on PlayStation Plus subscription prices.

Increasing their work due to Black Friday 2017 discounts, Hepsiburada (which is a very popular online shopping site) has achieved a great success by selling 350 products per minute last year. ‘LegendaryFriday’ in Hepsiburada will start at midnight, which connects Thursday to Friday. In addition to discounts of up to 80% on products, it will apply the best discounts of the year to millions of products in 36 categories, from white goods to automobile tires, cosmetics or mobile phones.

Hepsiburada will showcase the different products on the site by grouping them for their interests.Thus, online customers will be able to see products from their own interests among many products and proposals and experience a more convenient shopping experience.

Hepsiburada website was visited 4 million times on its web site last Black Friday, and mobile phone application was viewed 2.5 million times. While most of the orders were taken in health-beauty category, the highest expenditure on TL basis was made in the categories of mobile phones and accessories.

During the Black Friday the retail store and shops were packed of people and people were literally going mad. But with the increasing number of online shopping sites this problem went away and brands now are more and more considering this way to market their products, so they started to run many reasonable campaigns online and competing each other. It would be a boost for e-commerce potential of Turkey and also a good advertisement.

Brands like, Forever New, Zara, Oysho, PullandBear, Beymen, Mavi, Trendyol, Marks and Spencer, Crate and Barrel, Silk and Cashmere, New Balance and Derimod will offer on discounts on this very special day.
