Turkey’s offshore plan energy Supply chain center

Veli Bilgihan Yaşacan, Vice Chairman of the Offshore Wind Energy Association (DURED), stated that Turkey is located in a geography close to areas with high offshore wind energy potential in the world, and said, “Turkey can become a center in the supply chain, including offshore constructions. Establishing an offshore wind power plant. countries that want all their equipment can be supplied from Turkey. said.

Veli Bilgihan Yaşacan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Offshore Wind Energy Association (DURED), said in his assessment to the AA correspondent within the scope of World Wind Day, that offshore projects start from at least 500 MW, and that it is possible to form consortium structures, including the state, for projects of this scale.

Stating that 20 GW of Turkey’s 70 GW offshore potential is located in the Aegean and Marmara Regions, Yaşacan said:

“Offshore wind energy is an untapped area of Turkey that has great potential. New approaches in renewable energy are being tried around the world within the framework of business models and needs in energy. Wind is not only used to generate energy from wind, but also in hydrogen production. These power plants can be used actively in the production of green hydrogen in Turkey.”

Pointing out that there is a trend towards the diversification of green energy in the world and in Turkey, Yaşacan said, “The offshore wind energy market is growing faster than the onshore wind energy market worldwide. Greece has set a target of 2 GW in offshore wind power installation. We need to declare a similar target so that it will attract the attention of domestic and foreign investors, and an efficient investment environment and supply chain structures will be created.” he said.

Noting that Turkey is in a geography close to areas with high offshore wind energy potential in the world, Yaşacan said, “There is offshore potential in the Caspian Sea, the Red Sea and the Black Sea. Turkey can become a hub in the supply chain, including offshore construction. Countries that want to establish an offshore wind farm can supply all their equipment from Turkey.” made its assessment.
